About Bausch company and Occlusense®

Since 1953, Dr. Jean Bausch GmbH & Co. KG has specialized in the manufacture of special articulating – occlusion test materials designed to represent occlusal proportions on the masticatory surfaces as true to nature as possible. The new system OccluSense®, developed by Bausch, combines the traditional and digital registration of the pressure distribution on occlusal surfaces. The OccluSense device is being used in combination with a 60 microns thin single-use pressure sensor color coated in red, which is being applied exactly like a conventional occlusion test foil. The patient's masticatory pressure distribution is being recorded digitally in 256 pressure levels and then transmitted to the OccluSense®iPad App for further evaluation. The traditional color transfer on the occlusal surfaces of the patient facilitates the assignment of the captured data. The recordings are being stored in the patient management system of the iPad app and can be reviewed or exported any time.

About the Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award

Since the inaugural presentation in 2009, the Best of Class Technology Awards have grown to occupy a unique space in dentistry by creating awareness in the community of manufacturers that are driving the discussion as to how practices will operate now and in the future.

The selection process relies on an expert panel of dentists recognized as thought leaders and educators. It includes Dr. Paul Feuerstein, Dr. John Flucke, Dr. Marty Jablow, Dr. Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, Dr. Chris Salierno, and Dr. Lou Shuman. Over the course of each year, the panel members seek out and conduct research on potentially practice-changing technologies, with deliberations on nominees and final voting taking place in February. Panelists are precluded from voting in any category where they have consulting relationships. The entire selection process is conducted and managed on a not-for-profit basis.
